Mission To provide financial assistance to the eligible members of Scavangers Safai Karamcharis including their dependants for self-employment ventures and skill development for taking up income generating activities in industry, service and business sector. To assist in the upgradation of traditional and entrepreneurial skills of members of Safai Karamcharis for efficient management of production units through skill upgradation trainings. Objectives The objectives of this scheme are to provide training to the target group to make them self-dependant through appropriate technical training in the field oftraditional & technical occupations and entrepreneurship. Financial assistance is provided in the form of 100% grants to the State Channelising Agencies (SCAs) and Central and State Government and their training agencies for imparting skills and entrepreneurial development of Safai Karamcharis and their dependants for taking up income generating activities in industry, service and business sector. Grants may be provided upto a maximum of Rs. 1.00 lakh per project and the expenditure shall be considered on actual basis, and may vary from institute to institute. The SCAs should ensure, to the extend possible, that the trainee obtain loan through them under NSKFDC general loan schemes and under National Scheme for Liberation and Rehabilitation of Scavengers (NSLRS). under which NSKFDC can provide the loan component, for taking up income generating activities in industry, service and business sector after the successful completion of training. Types of Training Programmes
1. Institutional Linkages Programme (lLP) Under this programme, NSKFDC will establish training linkages with reputed training institutions in the country and arrange training in specialized trades for eligible candidates selected by them.
2. Skill up-gradation Training Programme (STP) The objectives of the programme is to equip the craftsmen/artisans to the changing markets demands of their products and up-grading the skills of those traditional Craftsman/Artisans, who have inherited the trade/ occupations from the generations. Emphasis is given to those arts and crafts, which is diminishing for lack of proper market support. The programme is non- residential.
3. Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) In order to equip the beneficiaries to set up their own business, training in entrepreneurship development is provided to prospective beneficiaries. and this shall be a non-residential programme.
